Late strike earns win as Tameka joins 100 club

Brisbane Roar Women have rocketed to the top of the Westfield W-League ladder following  a well-deserved victory against Adelaide United on Friday afternoon.

On her return to the starting lineup, a late goal from Hayley Raso - her first of the 2017/18 season - in the final stages ensured the Roar took the three points

Club champion Tameka Butt made history becoming the second BRFC player to reach 100 Westfield W-League games, celebrating among family, friends and a crowd of 2,247 at Suncorp Stadium.

The win is Mel Andreatta's side's third win of the season and the Head Coach says the result was reward for a dominant performance.

“Today was great for Hayley as well as the team’s confidence after working so hard within training.” Andreatta said.

“We created a lot of chances today and it’s a nice place to be (at the top of the table), but we know there is a lot of work to be done and we are ready for that challenge."

Clare Polkinghorne led a rock-solid Roar back four, denying an Adelaide attack led by American import Makenzy Doniac as goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold recorded her second clean-sheet of the season.
