Key defender Jack Hingert says it’s great to have football back despite a tricky period for for the Roar squad.

The Roar returned to Hyundai A-League action with a narrow defeat to Adelaide United last Sunday before joining fellow clubs in a Sydney hub the following day.

After a week together in Sydney, Hingert & his teammates have a chance to reaffirm their finals credentials on Wednesday night against Melbourne Victory at Bankwest Stadium.

“Obviously I’m disappointed with the overall result but I think there was plenty of positives to take out of the game especially in the second half and another positive is that we’re back on the pitch playing football again,” Hingert said.

“It’s something for us to look forward to, I’m buzzing to be back and I know the rest of the guys are buzzing to be back and we are looking forward to getting back out there again and hopefully coming away with not only a good performance but the result as well.”

Hingert has heaped praise on his teammates, coaches and their families for their sacrifices with the Roar scheduled to play their remaining fixtures in New South Wales.

“It’s definitely tough for a lot of players to do,” Hingert continued.

“We’ve got a lot of foreign guys here with families that came over from the other side of the world who had to pack up and head down here and get in to the hub, but that also shows the commitment that the players are willing to put in and the things that players are willing to do to continue playing and do what we love doing.”

The Roar sit perched in fourth spot ahead of Wednesday’s clash against the 10th-placed Victory.

“I think every game we go into is more about focusing on ourselves and what we can do, obviously we have to be aware of the specific things that other teams have as their strength but at the same time its more about focusing on us and what we can do going into each game.”
