Highlights: Brisbane beat Perth to book Finals Series spot

Scott Neville and Bruno Fornaroli

Brisbane Roar are bound for the A-League 2021 Finals Series after capturing a 2-1 win over Perth Glory at a jubilant Moreton Daily Stadium on Wednesday night.

Jonathan Aspropotamitis’ own goal and Riku Danzaki’s ninth strike of an excellent season guaranteed a place in the top six for Warren Moon’s men, who also moved up to third on the ladder with all three points.

Brandon Wilson pulled one back for Perth in the closing stages but it was too little, too late to deny the Roar another significant victory.

Brisbane are now unbeaten in eight home matches and will be looking for big supporter backing to extend that run when Sydney FC visit Moreton Daily Stadium this Saturday.

That match kicks off at 3:05pm, with the BRFC Legends to face the NPL QLD Legends in a curtain-raiser from 1:00pm. CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS.

GOALS

Brisbane Roar – OG 51′ – 1-0

Jay O’Shea pings a brilliant ball into the right channel for Josh Brindell-South to chase. The wing-back’s speed gets him there and his first-time cross is sliced into the Glory net by Aspropotamitis for an own goal.

Brisbane Roar – Danzaki 73′ – 2-0

After some brilliant and brave defending in our box, the Roar spring forward through Alex Parsons. His well-weighted, first-time pass enables Danzaki to gather up the ball, spin away from the recovering Darryl Lachman, and fire low across Liam Reddy.

Perth Glory – Wilson 85′ – 2-1

The visitors find a glimmer of hope when a corner leads to a scramble in the box, before Wilson turns the ball home.
