BRFC are pleased to announce an Academy partnership with Brisbane side Souths United, as the commencement of the Roar’s Academy program in early 2018 nears.
Brisbane are delighted to enhance the already strong connection with Souths after the local club played host to the Roar women as a training venue throughout the 2016/17 Westfield W-League season.
The Runcorn-based club who recently successfully applied for a license into the newly formed 14-team Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) competition will now join forces with the Roar at a junior level.
"Our Academy Partnership with Souths United is a venture we're really excited about," BRFC Academy Director Drew Sherman said.
"It allows us here at Brisbane Roar to make yet another commitment to supporting local football clubs through coaching and tangibility of pathways to professional football.
"The facilities at Souths United are second to none and we are delighted that together this partnership will allow us to create a high-quality environment for young players, providing them a platform to enter our Academy in the future."
The program designed for footballers aged 5-12 years old will help provide cutting-edge player development in Queensland.
With Academy partnership’s already being agreed with fellow clubs Gold Coast City, Olympic FC and Buderim/Sunshine Coast Wanderers, as well as with the Queensland Christian Soccer Association, the new partnership with Souths provides yet another football pathway for young players.
"The need to provide a suitable platform to develop our players and coaches to growing competition and individual expectations, while offering the best possible opportunity for player identification and pathways to suit their talent potential, is a must," Souths United President Tracey Confessore said.
"Souths United FC further recognises the importance of the skills development for players at the very early ages which allows these players to achieve optimum performance as they move through the older age groups.
"Therefore we must implement excellent Academy style programs which we feel will be successfully achieved through our partnership with the BRFC Academy.
"We look forward to working with the BRFC Academy to achieve the boundless opportunities it offers."
Being the sole Hyundai A-League representative in Queensland, Brisbane Roar are working persistently to provide opportunity and progression for passionate youngsters to be future Hyundai A-League stars and fulfill their football potential.
Roar’s Academy teams for players between the ages of 12 and 16 are expected to get underway in January 2018.
