Brisbane Roar FC have re-signed Luke DeVere, locking down the key defender for a further two Hyundai A-League seasons.

The 27-year-old centre-back is entering the prime of his career and is thrilled to continue his footballing journey at the Club he joined as a 19-year-old.

“I’m excited to be extending my contract with Brisbane, the team that gave me my first opportunity in professional football,” DeVere said.

“We have such a great Club here in Queensland and I can’t wait for what the future holds.

“With this extremely talented group of players, I’m looking forward to a successful future.”

DeVere has played the majority of his football in the Hyundai A-league for Brisbane, making 87 appearances and scoring four goals in Orange after a brief stint abroad in South Korea.

The dependable defender’s 2015/16 campaign was ruined by injury but hard work and determination has seen DeVere reestablish himself in the heart of Brisbane’s backline, starting every game this season.

DeVere’s defensive partnership with Jade North has been tough to crack, with the Roar boasting the Hyundai A-League’s second best defensive record.

Football Director Craig Moore is pleased to have a cornerstone of the Club’s defensive future secured and praised DeVere’s professionalism and leadership.

“Luke is a valuable member of our squad who not only leads by example but embraces the values we have at the football club. We are excited about the future,” Moore said.

“He has shown what a great professional he is and has not missed a beat this season. I have no doubt that Luke will continue to grow as a player and a person at the Roar.”

Brisbane face Western Sydney Wanderers this Saturday, 28 January at Suncorp Stadium. Kick-off 6:50pm QLD Time.
