One of Brisbane Roar's favourite daughters is up for a top prize at the 23rd annual Queensland Sport Awards tomorrow night.
The Roar Women's 2016-17 Player of the Year Katrina Gorry is a finalist for the 2017 Queensland Sport Star of the Year alongside some of the most recognisable names in Queensland sport. View the full list of nominees below.
Gorry received the nomination on the back of a standout 2017 in both the Westfield W-League for Brisbane Roar as well as for the Westfield Matildas, representing Australia at both the Algarve Cup in Portugal and the Tournament of Nations in the United States in which she scored in the historic 6-1 win against Brazil.
She has started the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season in sparkling fashion playing every minute of the Roar's campaign so far and netting the season's first goal inside the opening 20 seconds.
"I am honoured to be nominated and recognised alongside some fantastic Queensland sportspeople. I am looking forward to Thursday night's event celebrating Queensland sport," Gorry said.
Gorry and her Roar Women teammates take on Canberra United this Sunday at McKellar Park (3:30pm KO QLD time) with coverage LIVE on Fox Sports channel 501 before returning to Brisbane to take on the Newcastle Jets at A.J. Kelly Park next Sunday (4:30pm KO).
We wish Katrina the very best tomorrow night!
