Brisbane Roar have today announced its December 8 Hyundai A-League clash with Perth Glory will be played at Ballymore Stadium, instead of the club’s traditional home of Suncorp Stadium.

The change of venue was brought about after consultation with Suncorp Stadium management around the national tour of international headline band U2.

Following consultation with Football Federation Australia and negotiations with Queensland Rugby Union over the past two months, an agreement was reached to utilise the venue for the match.

Brisbane Roar CEO Peter McLennan expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by QRU in securing the venue.

“We’ve been confident from the start of the negotiation process that we would reach an agreement which worked for both parties,” McLennan said.

“This is our training venue and the players know it intimately and as such it was a logical place to play the rearranged fixture.

“We don’t believe we lose any home ground advantage playing at Ballymore Stadium and look forward to creating a unique experience on December 8.”

McLennan said the change of venue was the perfect opportunity for fans to experience an “away” fixture in Brisbane.

“This is a unique opportunity for our fans to get the taste of an away game without having to leave Brisbane,” he said.

“This is a one-off chance to create a whole new atmosphere at a Brisbane Roar Hyundai A-League match for our fans.”

The club is continuing to work with the QRU around logistics for the match and further details will be provided when they become available.

Kick-off for the match remains at the scheduled time of 8pm (AEST).
