Attacker Fahid Ben Khalfallah can’t contain his excitement about the pending arrival of electric French winger Eric Bautheac.
Ben Khalfallah, who joined the Roar during the off-season, was full of praise for Brisbane’s latest addition, who is due to land in Brisbane tonight after delays with his immigration.
“He has a great left foot, he’s quick and technically he’s very good,” Ben Khalfallah said on Tuesday morning.
Bautheac brings a wealth of experience to the Brisbane squad having plied his trade for LOSC Lille in France’s Ligue 1 over the past two seasons, making 42 appearances.
“Playing for a club like Lille doesn’t just happen. He is a great signing for the club and I can’t wait to see him,” he said.
“He may take time to settle in, but we will help him do that and he will be great value for us.”
Ben Khalfallah has started the first two games of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season for Brisbane and was one of the Roar’s best against Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium last Friday night.
While the results haven't gone Brisbane's way, the French-born attacker says he’s excited by the potential in the group and the direction in which they’re heading.
“We know where we want to go and the way we train and work is just amazing,” Ben Khalfallah added.
“People don’t realise this because they don’t see us train, but I have been playing at the highest level for a long time, and it’s clear to me that we have great staff and players here.
“When everyone is fit and available to be on the pitch, we are going to have an amazing team.”
The Roar’s next opponent is the Newcastle Jets at Suncorp Stadium this Sunday afternoon. Kick-off 4:00 pm (local time).
The off-season recruit believes the side’s performance against the Reds last week deserved three points, and says it’s only a matter of time before the hard work starts paying dividends.
“I believe we should have won last week, we just made some mistakes at the end,” he concluded.
“We played good football in the first half, we made chances and we should have scored again.
“We now have to focus on the next game and I am very confident with the team we have and the way we work.”
