Get ready for repeat visits to Wanderland after Brisbane Roar today drew Western Sydney Wanderers FC in the Round of 32 draw for this season’s Westfield FFA Cup.

The date and kick off time for the away Cup tie against the Roar’s 2014 Grand Final opponents will be confirmed on Friday.

The Roar earlier this week were pitted against Western Sydney Wanderers in an away match to open the 2015/16 Hyundai A-League season on Thursday, 8 October.

Roar Head Coach John Aloisi is unfazed by the prospect of going up against Wanderers’ Tony Popovic in the Roar’s first two domestic competition matches under his stewardship.

“It’s exciting . . . being involved in such a big competition,” Aloisi said of the FFA Cup draw twist.

“We know the Wanderers will be well prepared. They will want to have a great season because last season they were disappointing.

“Also Brisbane Roar weren’t happy with the season last year. Both teams have a lot to prove this season and straight away we are up against each other.”

The Roar survived only two rounds in last season’s inaugural FFA Cup.

They beat Perth’s Stirling Lions 4-0 in the Round of 32 before going down 2-0 to eventual Cup winners Adelaide United FC in the Round of 16.

The Cup tie against the Wanderers completes a busy July for the Roar.

The first-team squad begins training this week in preparation for the Friday, 17 July match against Liverpool FC at Suncorp Stadium.
