Brisbane Roar’s annual Family Fun Day was a huge success with the club’s fans flocking to the Roma Street Parklands on Sunday to celebrate the arrival of the Hyundai A-League season.

With just one week remaining before Brisbane travel down the M1 to take on local rivals Gold Coast United in the season opener, the annual event to mark the new season was the perfect way to begin preparations.

Blessed with wonderful mid-winter weather in Brisbane, Roar fans enjoyed plenty of fun in the heart of the city.

The Roar Rapid Fire inflatable football field was a huge hit, with the kids keeping keeping Football Development Manager Andy Pinches and his Roar Active Program coaches busy throughout the event.

The young fans were also entertained on the free inflatable castle, petting zoo and face painting stall.

However, the highlight of the day was the introduction of the Brisbane Roar squad to the assembled crowd.

With 12 new players in the squad, this season’s official presentation of jerseys held special significance.

With Brisbane Head Coach Ange Postecoglou in Sydney at an FFA coaches conference, club captain Matt McKay was entrusted with the responsibility of handing each jersey over to the players.

The players then spent nearly an hour signing caps, jerseys and posters for the fans in what was another successful Family Fun Day.
