Brisbane Women eye Canberra win

Brisbane Roar Women are looking to add another game to their five game unbeaten streak when they take on Canberra United tomorrow afternoon at Perry Park.

Brisbane Roar Women are looking to add another game to their five game unbeaten streak when they take on Canberra United tomorrow afternoon at Perry Park.

The last time these two teams faced off against each other it ended in a 1-1 draw and the Roar Women are looking to go one better tomorrow.

Coach Jeff Hopkins said the girls have been working hard on the training field and are eagerly anticipating the clash with the fellow Westfield W-League title contenders.

“This game will be a challenge for us,” he said.

“We have been working towards this game and we are going into it with some good results behind us and some really good form as well so we are really looking forward to this weekend.”

Hopkins said this game and next week-s match up with Sydney FC were going to be tough but said he and his team are always up for a challenge.

“We always have really close, really intense games against Canberra,” he said.

“They are a good side and are much improved on last year so we know it is going to be a hard game for us but we are all really looking forward to it.”

According to Hopkins, the team-s positive attitude has been the key to their success.

“Everyone is quite positive about the weekend and we are all really keen to get out there and play as well as we can,” he said.

The Brisbane coach said the most appealing aspect of playing games at home is playing in front of a very dedicated group of fans who will help push the girls to perform.

“Our home crowd is fantastic,” he said.

“They are all very vocal and always get behind us even when we aren-t doing to well.

“We really enjoy playing at home and hopefully we get a big crowd that will push us even further.”

Brisbane Roar Women-s clash against Canberra United kicks off at 4pm tomorrow at Perry Park, Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills. Tickets are available at the gate.
