Predators shall become prey! Roar Brisbane on to three points as they get their Hyundai A-League 2010/11 home campaign under way by hunting down champions Sydney FC…

…There probably couldn-t be a better time for Roar to take on last season-s champions. Having kept a clean sheet and picked up a point from their curtain-raising derby against Gold Coast United, they open their Hyundai A-League 2010/11 home campaign refreshed and rested after a weekend break. Backed by their ever-vociferous crowd, they will fancy their chances against a Sydney side that has shipped five goals in their opening two games, picking up a solitary point along the way.

Sydney-s nervy opening to the season is a world away from the start they made last year. Indeed, they-ve already conceded as many goals as they did in the first six matches of last season, with all five goals leaked so far this campaign coming in the final thirty minutes of games.

These statistics will certainly be music to home fans- ears considering the outcomes of last season-s two meetings between the sides in Brisbane. Each game ended in a 1-0 victory for the home side, with the winning goal on both occasions coming from Sydney-s eternal nemesis, Sergio van Dijk, in the final five minutes.

But the Roar should be wary, van Dijk is, of course, no longer there to act as the thorn in Sydney‘s side, and, while the visitors may have given away goals in the closing third of games, make no mistake, they know where the net is too. The stats read: two games, four goals, four different goal scorers – one from a striker, two from midfield and one from a defender.

Captain Terry McFlynn, scorer of one of those goals, is set to make his 100th Hyundai A-League appearance and will be looking to lead Sydney to their first win of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season. This is simply a game not to be missed.
