Brisbane Roar in the pink

Brisbane Roar has joined forces with the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Team Pink to make this Saturday’s clash with North Queensland Fury at Suncorp Stadium a “Roar for Pink” match.

Brisbane Roar has joined forces with the National Breast Cancer Foundation-s Team Pink to make this Saturday-s clash with North Queensland Fury at Suncorp Stadium a “Roar for Pink” match.

In an effort to raise funds and awareness around breast cancer, Brisbane Roar-s players will wear special pink sweat wristbands during the match in support of the initiative.

Brisbane goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos will also don a one-off pink jersey for the match along with a special pair of pink Nike boots.

Part proceeds from all corporate box sales for the match will also be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Brisbane Roar Chairman Chris Bombolas said the partnership between the club and the National Breast Cancer Foundation was an important one for the entire football family.

“Football is more than just about the players, both men and women, on the park,” Mr Bombolas said.

“Football is also about the mothers, wives, sisters and friends who make it possible for Brisbane Roar players from our men-s, women-s and youth teams to take the field and represent their city.

“One in nine women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85, so there are very few people in Brisbane who won-t be touched by it at some stage in their lives.

“We-re extremely proud to partner with the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Team Pink for the match and we encourage our fans and corporate partners to help us support such a worthy cause.”

National Breast Cancer Foundation volunteers will be collecting donations at the game.
