Brisbane Roar Club Update

Like every business and every community football club across Queensland and Australia, Brisbane Roar and its players, coaches, staff, members, fans and sponsors have been affected by the impacts of COVID-19.

The situation continues to change daily and the Club has always and will continue to follow the directions of the relevant government authorities and Football Federation Australia (FFA).

The Club and its owners have supported all players, coaches and staff since the league’s postponement, despite regular distributions from FFA ceasing from April 2020. In recent times, the Club has also strongly endeavoured for attention to be placed on the possibility of a Queensland-based HUB for remaining 2019/20 fixtures. At this stage, this is unlikely.

Each of the Club’s sponsors have stood resolute with Brisbane Roar, despite facing their own individual challenges during this difficult period. The Club wishes to extend its gratitude to all its partners for continuing their support.

Brisbane Roar would like to acknowledge the tremendous work undertaken by a number of our members and fans during the break, such as assisting in the #PlayForLives initiative which was well supported by the community and clubs across South-East Queensland.

We would also like to thank everyone for the thousands of well wishes and messages of support our players and staff have received.

During the COVID-19 break, we have continued to increase our community presence, both across Queensland and into Northern New South Wales with both our Roar Active Community Program and Brisbane Roar Academy continuing to go from strength-to-strength.

We now look ahead to the resumption of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season. FFA has made the decision to assume control of all remaining fixtures, however the Club has worked closely with FFA to allow spectators at the venue for this Sunday’s match.

We would like to thank FFA for their assistance and cooperation in this matter and we look forward to welcoming our fans back to a Brisbane Roar home game this Sunday.

We continue to await further direction as to where and when our remaining fixtures will be played, and the Club will provide further updates as more information is received.

Finally, on behalf of everyone at Brisbane Roar Football Club, we would like to extend our utmost gratitude to our dedicated members and fans for your unwavering devotion and support of our great Club during what has been a testing year for all Queenslanders and Australians.
