Brisbane pre-season continues north

Brisbane Roar’s pre-season program rolls on this Sunday with a blockbuster clash against Queensland State League Champions Sunshine Coast Fire at Stockland Stadium.

Brisbane Roar-s pre-season program rolls on this Sunday with a blockbuster clash against Queensland State League Champions Sunshine Coast Fire at Stockland Stadium.

The Hyundai A-League Champions- strong start to the pre-season continued with a 3-0 win over Peninsula Power at AJ Kelly Park on Wednesday night and Ange Postecoglou-s men will look to continue that form into the weekend.

While Brisbane controlled large periods of the game, the match was harder fought than the score line suggests.

A first half goal to Chris Bush was followed by goals to trialists Paul Sludden and Nikolas Schmitz in the second half to wrap up the victory in a match where Power drew several good saves from Michael Theoklitos in the Roar goal.

For the home side, goalkeeper Marko Radovanovic and Josh Taylor were both stand outs, with the latter providing a few difficult moments for the Roar defence throughout the contest.

Brisbane will welcome back inspirational captain and Socceroo Matt McKay for Sunday-s match against the Fire following his strong performance for Australia against Serbia in Melbourne.

Joining McKay in returning to the squad will be New Zealand international Kosta Barbarouses who featured from the start in the All Whites- two recent friendly matches against Mexico and Australia.

Gates at Stockland Stadium will open at noon, with Brisbane Roar players available to sign autographs between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Kick-off for the match is 2.30pm.
