Brisbane Roar has opened their pre-season campaign in style, sweeping past Brisbane Premier League club Brisbane Olympic 5-0 at Goodwin Park tonight.

Head Coach Rado Vidosic and his coaching staff opted for a different team in each half as part of their conditioning program with both Roar sides arguably as strong as the other.

South Korean winger Do Dong-Hyun was a clear crowd pleaser on debut, setting up George Lambadaridis for a header within the first half an hour of play.

But it was last season’s Golden Boot winner Besart Berisha who stole the show in front of the lively crowd, netting a hat-trick with three equally clinical finishes in the second half.

An own goal to an Olympic defender rounded out the score as the Roar players impressed after just two weeks of pre-season training under their belts.

“I’m very happy,” Vidosic said, post-match.

“We used it as a conditioning session more than anything but it was great to be out in Brisbane promoting our brand of football and introducing our new players.

“The crowd tonight was just fantastic.”
