In response to the weather crisis in Queensland, the Brisbane Roar will donate all profits from general ticket sales to this Friday-s game against Central Coast Mariners to the Red Cross Queensland Floods Appeal 2013.
In addition to this total, the club-s 1303 Club members will also make a donation, while volunteers will collect donations on the night at Suncorp Stadium on behalf of the Red Cross.
Brisbane Roar General Manager Sean Dobson said it was important for the club to give what it could to those who had lost everything, many of them for the second time in two years.
“As Queensland-s only Hyundai A-League team, the Brisbane Roar has an obligation to represent the state and support it where possible,” Dobson said.
“The people of Queensland have been supportive of the Brisbane Roar through the good times and the bad and this is one way that the club is able to return the favour.
“Sport has an amazing ability to bring people together and we want to celebrate the fighting spirit of Queenslanders in this time of need.
“We encourage everyone who can get to Suncorp Stadium to come along, enjoy an entertaining night of football and help us put back into the community at the same time.”
The club will continue to work with all stakeholders around the game in an effort to maximise any potential return on the match for the benefit of all those who have been affected by the recent weather event.
Friday-s match will kick-off at 7pm and tickets are available at Ticketek by calling 132 849, www.ticketek.com.au or by visiting a Ticketek outlet.
