BRFC Squad Update: Golgol Mebrahtu joins Brisbane Roar

Mebrahtu

Brisbane Roar has bolstered its A-League attack with the signing of experienced attacker Golgol Mebrahtu.

Mebrahtu, a proud Queenslander and Brisbane-based junior, returns to the A-League following a lengthy stint in Europe at clubs in the Czech Republic & Hungary.

He began his A-League career in Queensland at Gold Coast United in 2009, with spells at both Melbourne Heart and Western Sydney Wanderers before heading abroad.

“I’m really excited to be back home, where my family and friends are from, at my hometown club and I’m excited about what we can do this season,” Mebrahtu said.

“Coming back home was a big factor for me. I’ve had extensive talks with [Head Coach] Warren [Moon] and I know plenty of people around the club so I’ll be looking to do my bit for the team and contributing to a good season.

“The boys have welcomed me in with open arms, I feel like I’ve blended right in and I’m just really looking forward to the next few weeks ahead.

“I’m looking to bring my experience to the squad and help the team create more goals, score my goals, and ultimately, win games.”

Head Coach Warren Moon says Mebrahtu’s addition is a tremendous boost for his squad.

“Golgol is another proud Queenslander who wanted the opportunity to compete and work in our squad and I believe he will do just that,” Moon said.

“He’s an experienced player who has spent plenty of time in the A-League as well as leagues in Europe – he’s back in Queensland now, back at home, looking to play his part in our squad and help us compete for trophies this season.”
