Brisbane Roar are pleased to announce that a new Strategic Academy Partnership (SAP) based in West Brisbane will be launched in January 2018.
Based out of Ipswich Knights FC, the SAP will ensure that Brisbane Roar support the club’s technical department following their recent acceptance in the Queensland Premier League for the 2018 season, as well as providing training programs for young footballers in the region.
The program will be delivered wholly by Brisbane Roar’s Academy Staff to boys and girls aged between 7-12 years as well as selected players aged 13-16 years, with the ambition that participating footballers will progress into the BRFC Academy squads.
Participation is open to young footballers, both male and female, in these age groups from any club environment as a supplementary training program which the BRFC training schedule will attempt to accommodate.
"The launch of this program allows us not only to provide a better pathway into the Academy, open to all players in the West Brisbane area, but also to take responsibility for the quality of their coaching,” BRFC Academy Director Drew Sherman said.
“This initiative specifically will focus on players in those SAP age groups, but also at the same age as our existing Academy players, making it a unique concept.
“The premise is to increase the amount of football available to youngsters in the area without detracting from their existing club commitments.
“BRFC will ensure it is financially inclusive and help these players to bridge the gap and transition into our Academy environment in the future.”
An information evening will be held at Ipswich Knights FC (Brisbane Road, Booval) at 6pm on Thursday, 30 November 2017 with the training program set to be launched on Monday, 15 January 2018.
SAP trials will be held on Saturday, 9 December 2017. Click HERE to register online.
