Young players showing great potential training last week wrapped up another valuable term on the training park at each of our BRFC Pre-Academy centres.
Brisbane Roar's Pre-Academy program is designed to provide a seamless transition for selected players, aged 9-12 years, into the Club's two-star Academy, which begins at an U13 level.
Since its inception in 2017, the BRFC Academy has proven itself as an established pathway between Queensland's junior football ranks and the Hyundai A-League.
Players, who were selected through trials & recommendations from local clubs, have been training once per week at pre-academy centres located at our City of Logan Training Base, Nudgee College & Cavendish Road State High School.
Each of our three centres is run by a full-time Academy coach, who has direct contact with every outfield player at every session, and has also been assisted by members of the Roar's Youth team, who have passed on their experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the up-and-coming youngsters.
"The purpose of our Pre-Academy program is to ensure a seamless transition for talented young players, identified at an early age, into our full Academy, which begins from Under 13 through to our NPL squad," Interim Academy Director Martin Bullock said.
"Each centre follows a very similar curriculum to our older Academy players which aids in making that transition as smooth as possible."
Brisbane Roar has worked in conjunction with local clubs whilst establishing these centres to avoid clashes with local clubs commitments.
Training for Term 1 at the Logan & Cavendish Road SHS centres concluded last week, with some of the Club's Hyundai A-League stars making a special guest appearance.
A fresh set of trials will be held for players for Terms 3 & 4 following the conclusion of the Term 2 programs at each centre, which will involve a thorough two-day trial process. All current Pre-Academy players will be invited to continue, or requested to re-trial, for Terms 3 & 4.
