Best is yet to come for Roar Women

Brisbane Roar Women will take confidence into Sunday’s Westfield W-League game aginst Newcastle Jets at A.J Kelly Park (4:30pm KO) after three consecutive well-earned wins.

The ladies in orange currently sit in second on the ladder, also holding the title of the most clean sheets.

Head Coach Mel Andreatta is pleased with her side’s performances but is adamant that there is still room for development.

“It gives us confidence to know that the things we are working on and the way we play with the ball and without it, is effective,” Andreatta said.

“Entering into this phase of the season, we are in a good position, but premierships certainly aren’t won after six games and trophies aren't in cabinets after seven games.

“We know there are a lot of challenges to come but we take confidence in how we have started the season and know that we can push on and continue to build.”

Roar Women

The full force of the Roar Women’s squad took the field for the first time last week against Canberra, with the final piece of the puzzle in Emily Gielnik making her first appearance in season 10 after a stint in Norway.

“It’s always been a part of the plan to bring players back in and build them up so they are fit and ready to go,” Andreatta said.

“Emily has come back and started well with us, and has now had another week of training under her belt. Her performances in training will earn her playing time.”

The Roar have earmarked Westfield Matilda and powerhouse Jets midfielder Emily Van Egmond as a key player for their opponents but Andreatta believes her side is ready to contain her.

“It’s a challenge our midfield will look forward to. We are going up against a team that is fourth on the ladder and have plenty of good players across the park,” Andreatta continued.
