Brisbane Roar goal scorer Besart Berisha has spoken of his delight at his return to action for his beloved club in Friday night-s top-of-the-table 3-1 triumph over Western Sydney Wanderers at Suncorp Stadium.

It was Berisha-s first match since the round two 4-0 win over Sydney FC on Saturday, 19 October when he limped off after 26 minutes with a niggling hamstring injury and he wasted no time at all in making an impact.

The Albanian striker first flashed a warning shot across goal within 50 seconds of the opening whistle before displaying strength, perseverance and skill to beat three Western Sydney defenders and Ante Covic between the posts for his fifth minute goal.

“There was a bit of hunger there,” Berisha explained.

“Five weeks out, I personally cannot handle that. To watch my team, it-s really frustrating and I nearly done my hammy again jumping!

“It was really, really tough. I-m just really glad that I made it through, the first game back is always important.

“It was very tough because after an injury, I-m just glad I put in a good performance to score and help the team win.”

Berisha lasted a little longer than an hour in the contest, admitting he still needs to work on his fitness after his spell on the sidelines.

He was impressed with the way his substitute Kwame Yeboah filled the void and was the first one up off his seat to hug Head Coach Mike Mulvey when the 19-year-old topped off the win with a 90th minute screamer.

“I thought it was a good decision after 63 minutes and I think Kwame did well, he finished the job,” Berisha said.

“I hope against Perth I can play a little bit longer and week to week, get stronger and build my performance and fitness back.”

Brisbane-s next challenge is Perth Glory, who Berisha scored two goals against in the 2012 Grand Final, this Saturday, 30 October. Kick-off is at 4.30pm at Suncorp Stadium and tickets are available from .Ticketek
