Brisbane Roar striker Besart Berisha remains unfazed by the attention surrounded by his club-s return to action against Perth Glory this weekend, instead – true to form – choosing to focus on his contribution to the team-s performance.

Berisha made plenty of headlines in his debut Hyundai A-League season, scoring 19 goals in the regular season and managing an almost complete clean sweep of the Roar-s end-of-season awards

Now, after 12 weeks of pre-season, the Roar-s 2012/13 campaign four days away from kick-off and Berisha says he-s excited, not nervous, about Sunday-s season opener and the forthcoming challenge that lies ahead.

“The excitement is there and we know how important the first game in the Perth is,” he said.

“All the boys are ready and prepared for the big game which is important.

“I will try my best, work for the team and if I score goals, I can help the team so I-ll try to do that.

“That-s the most important thing for me, not to think about me but think about what is good for the team.”

While he-s a clear fan favourite in the Queensland capital, the charismatic Albanian knows the team will face a different reception in front of the Perth Glory crowd at Patersons Stadium but has no complaints.

“For me personally, I-m very happy to go to Perth for the first game because it is a different game,” Berisha said.

“It would be a fantastic game for anyone playing football, this is what I personally look for – playing these types of games.

“I will be more surprised if they love me!

“This is what I expect – I am a passionate footballer and they are passionate supporters in Perth.

“I-m really excited to go to Perth and play a good game.”

Brisbane Roar-s Hyundai A-League season opener against Perth Glory at Patersons Stadium is this Sunday, 7 October 2012, kicking off at 2pm local time (4pm Queensland time).
