Beaumont ready for Canberra challenge

Ellen Beaumont has been in sensational form for Brisbane Roar this Westfield W-League season and she-s hoping to keep contributing to their winning ways, starting with tomorrow-s Grand Final rematch against Canberra United.

Beaumont started off the bench for the first two games of the season, proving influential on both occasions when taking the field.

Not only did the 24-year-old provide the perfect cross with her first touch in the opening round, but she then scored a late winner against Melbourne Victory in round two, something Beaumont refuses to take credit for.

“I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time against Melbourne to sneak a goal but credit goes to the girls who fought hard all game,” she says.

“Coming off the bench, I just want to contribute as much as I can with a high work rate and fresh legs.”

After another two impressive performances in the league resulted in Beaumont-s promotion to the starting eleven for last week-s 6-0 demolition of Perth Glory, resulting in two goals for the striker.

“As far as goals go, I was thrilled to have one W-League goal, but to have three at the moment definitely excites me,” she says.

However, Beaumont insists she still hasn-t displayed her full potential.

“I am happy with my performances so far, but still have a lot more that I would like to bring to the team for the rest of our matches,” she says.

Ahead of this weekend, Beaumont said her side is ready for the challenge.

“The win against Perth has put all of us into a positive frame of mind and we-re looking to carry our good form into the game.”

Canberra United will be without their first choice centre back partnership of Lin Chuing Ying (ACL) and Ellie Brush (ankle) as well as defender Elyse Perry who has cricket commitments.

However, Beaumont says the focus is on getting the result and enjoying the football.

“With our current formation, we have such an attacking team and I love getting upfront and playing with the strikers.”

Brisbane Roar take on Canberra United in at McKellar Park on Saturday 7 November, with the match to be televised on ABC 1 and ABC HD from 3:00pm AEST.
