New Roar Women’s striker Rylee Baisden is excited to get the Westfield W-League season underway after an incredible maiden campaign in the NPLW Queensland.

Baisden capped off a stellar season up front for Moreton Bay United in the NPLW Queensland by cleaning house at the annual Football Queensland Awards.

The attacker’s 33 goals in 25 appearances saw her claim the NPLW QLD Golden Boot, NPLW QLD Player of the Year and a spot in the NPLW QLD Team of the Year.

“I’ve never been to a big event like that so it was very humbling to be in a room with really good footballers and people who are supporting the game,” Baisden said.

“It was a surreal night to close the chapter of the NPL and open the chapter coming here.”

Baisden showed no signs of slowing down during her first outing in orange as she netted in Saturday’s pre-season clash with Eastern Suburbs FC.

“I was obviously nervous even though it was just a friendly game so it felt good to score in the new jersey and get on my feet,” the American continued.

“I knew it was going to be good [playing with her new teammates], but it exceeded my expectations as far as teammates making awesome passes and just getting the flow of the game which is exciting for the season.”

The Roar Women’s first Westfield W-League fixture against the Victory is just over two weeks away after a first-round bye and Baisden is eager to get off on the right foot.

“The first game is huge because we don’t play that many games so just getting everybody focussed and ready to go is key.

“I think the bye is good – it gives us one more week to prepare and it gives us a leg up if we take advantage of it.

“I’m just excited to get going have the season start,” Baisden concluded.
