Aussie pride for Roar’s Slippery Fish

It seems all of Australia is thrilled about Brisbane Roar’s Henrique becoming an official Australian last night!

The Slippery Fish was presented with his Certificate of Australian Citizenship by Brisbane Lord Mayor Councillor Graham Quirk at a special ceremony at City Hall.

As Henrique’s squad mates were in Sydney preparing for tonight’s Hyundai A-League opener against Western Sydney Wanderers (LIVE on Fox Sports 505 from 7pm QLD TIME), the newly anointed Australian was the star of the show as more than 600 fellow new Australians joined the Brazilian in taking the Oath of Allegiance to Australia.

The 30-year-old striker, who has scored 31 goals for the Roar since joining the club six years ago, got a huge cheer from the City Hall crowd as he was one of a privileged few to receive their certificates from the Lord Mayor.

“This is a dream come true,” Henrique said.

Here’s what fans of the Slippery Fish had to say overnight about the terrific news that hopefully kickstarts a successful season for John Aloisi’s Roar in the new Hyundai A-League season.
