Amazing Race for Brisbane Roar Women

Brisbane Roar Women have begun their preparations for the upcoming Westfield W-League season by staging an Amazing Race team building day through the Brisbane CBD.

Ahead of their opening November 6 home clash against grand final foes Sydney FC, Brisbane have been working hard on and off the field to boost confidence and build unity within the squad.

Beginning at the Kangaroo Point cliffs, the team was split into groups and issued with instructions by their coaching staff.

The day included team checkpoints, challenges to complete and items to collect along the way, with the challenges, kayaking on the Brisbane River, charades in Queen Street Mall and trivia in the Botanical Gardens, proving to be the most testing for the Roar girls.

Midfielder Tameka Butt showed kayaking was not her strong point after falling into the river, while no Brisbane player demonstrated any outstanding skills at charades, but not through lack of trying, according to Roar coach Jeff Hopkins.

At the end of the day, defensive trio Laura Alleway, Brooke Spence and Kim Carroll were declared the winners.

This year-s Westfield W-League season consists of 10 games for Brisbane Roar, including five matches at home.
