Brisbane Roar Captain Tom Aldred is calling on all Roar fans to rally behind the team as his side look to bounce back in the final home game of 2019.

The Roar play the final home game of the decade when they take on newcomers Western United for the first time ever at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night (KO 6:30pm).

Aldred says the Roar have put last weekend’s disappointing result against Sydney FC behind them with focus fully on bouncing back against the league’s newest outfit.

“It’s a disappointing defeat but in football time moves quick so you’ve got to move on and learn from it which is the most important thing,” Aldred said.

“We go into a game on Friday which gives us the opportunity to put that wrong right and it will be a big game for us.”

The Roar are returning home for Friday’s clash where they have won their last two games and Aldred hopes the Brisbane faithful can spur them on to a third.

“We’ve won the last two games at home and it’s been brilliant to have the fans behind us,” the captain continued.

“It gives us that twelfth man going forward and we’re all looking forward to being back there and hopefully they can cheer us on to another win at home.”

All 17 players who featured in last week’s fixture were on Thursday named in an extended squad by Head Coach Robbie Fowler – a side that also includes promoted players Jake McGing & Rahmat Akbari, as well as Academy defender Kai Trewin for the first time this season.

Friday’s date with Western United could be a vital fixture for the Roar who the skipper believes has what it takes to achieve plenty of success this season.

“We want to be competing at the higher end of the league and we feel we can do that,” Aldred added.

“We need to put on a consistent level of performances and results to get up there and going forward we feel like we can do that and it starts on Friday night against Western United.”
