BRFC History

On 2 March, 2005, then-named Queensland Roar FC was incorporated as a partnership.

As one of eight teams in the inaugural Hyundai A-League season, the club played its first ever match against the New Zealand Knights at Suncorp Stadium on 28 August, 2005, winning 2-0. Since then the club has remained at the forefront of the Hyundai A-League both on and off the pitch.

Following the introduction of two new Queensland teams in 2009, the club changed its name to Brisbane Roar FC.

All home matches continue to be played at Suncorp Stadium, Queensland’s world-class, state-of-the-art premier stadium. The cauldron like design and the proximity to the playing field ensures football fans will have the best view and atmosphere not ever experienced at a sporting event in Queensland before. Squad training is conducted at Ballymore Stadium, Herston.

The football experience of the board is considerable, all directors being keen football enthusiasts. The board does not, as a matter of policy, get involved in day to day football operations leaving that role to its technical staff.

The Technical Department at Brisbane Roar FC have vast experience in both coaching and playing football. From head coach to the development officer, all of our technical staff at Brisbane Roar are fully accredited and focused on recruiting, developing and promoting prime local and international talent with the aim of delivering on field success. Our club is committed to providing Brisbane with a quality team capable of delivering excitement and interest to the whole football family. An international flavour is added with our international recruits from Brazil, Scotland and the Netherlands.

Brisbane Roar Football Club aims to encourage more people to become involved in football whether through playing or watching the game by:

* To act as Brisbane’s football representative in the community – forging links with community, school and other organisations in order to improve and maintain interest in the game and the clubs standing in the community;

* Encourage women, disabled people and people from all ethnic backgrounds to become involved in the game of football; and ultimately

* To be an agent of change in sport, health and the environment in the local community.
