CONFIRMED: Dynamic French Ligue 1 winger Eric Bautheac joins Brisbane

Brisbane Roar are thrilled to announce that personal terms with dynamic French Ligue 1 winger Eric Bautheac have been agreed and he is expected to sign for the club next week.

The talented Frenchman joins the Roar as a free agent from LOSC Lille.

Bautheac brings over ten years of top division experience to Brisbane’s Hyundai A-League side, having spent the majority of his professional career in France’s elite club football competition.

Playing primarily as a left-winger, the pacey attacker made a total of 172 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring 26 goals and creating 25 assists.

The 30-year-old, is the latest Frenchman to join the Hyundai A-League ranks, having spent seven years as a youth player at Saint-Etienne and had stints professionally at AS Cannes, Dijon and Nice.

Head Coach John Aloisi says he is delighted to welcome the Roar’s newest recruit and is confident he can make a valuable contribution to the side in the new season.

“We are looking forward to adding Eric to our talented squad. He is a top quality footballer who has played at the highest level in France for many years,” Aloisi said.

“He is the left sided attacker we have been patiently searching for. His pace and European experience will cause opposition defences plenty of problems we believe.

“With under a month until the season gets underway I hope our supporters are excited about this quality addition to our Club.”

Roar’s latest recruit becomes John Aloisi’s sixth pre-season signing after Italian marquee Massimo Maccarone, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Corey Gameiro, Mitch Oxborrow and Petros Skapetis.

With appearances in the UEFA Europa League, Bautheac will provide an attacking spark to the Roar lineup and gives Brisbane another option in the final third.
